Brockham v Charlwood - 8th March, 2008

Weekly Roundup - 7th April
After almost a month out of action the first team at last got a league game in over the weekend. Saturday saw the visit of Brockham and Charlwood were looking to avenge a defeat at their place back in early March. A 2-2 draw was the final result, with Creasey and Page grabbing the goals, although by all accounts, three points could and should have been achieved. Still a decent result for Woods though and one that keeps them in 7th place of the Redhill and District Premier. Other results saw title favourites Caterham come unstuck at home to Frenches by only managing a draw whilst Smallfield achieved a narrow win over lowly Reigate Sala.
It looks like another mid-table finish for Woods. Next up is a visit to Frenches Athletic in a game which will largely determine their final league position.

Charlwood Reserves kicked off on the same pitch a few minutes after first team action, facing a strong Wallington New Forresters side.
(all 9 of them)
Woods began brightly and it was only a matter of time before the goals flew in. The first came curteousy of a headed own goal from a Sheldon Millard corner. Sheldon then picked up the second with a long range dipping shot (cross) that flew into the top corner.
John Redfern then bundled home his first goal for the club to make it three before a spirited comeback from the visitor
s (now down to 8) clawed the scoreline back to 3-2. A Jason Anderson header and a crisp volley from Dave Cullinane (again a first for the club) then gave the scoreline a degree of respectability.
Elsewhere, Merstham dropped more points, this time only managing a draw away at Holland Sports. Reigate Priory beat Park Lane in the only other Div 3 game. The title is still up for grabs then and if Charlwood win their remaining two games, they definately go up...perhaps...just perhaps...as champions?

Charlwood Charity Cup News
Charlwood first team marched on to the next round of the Charity Cup with a 6-2 win over Thistle on Wednesday night. Steve Payne notched a hatrick while Bill Beattie, Lee Davies and Grant Creasey bagged one a piece. Rob Youles was given the MOM vote and perhaps the most intriguing news is that Jason 'Rocky' Anderson was involved in some touchline scrapping following his sending off just a few minutes after appearing as a substitute. Only wish i was there to see it!
By the way, goals and MOM votesin this competition do not count towards the end of season totals - apologies to Payney and Youlsey for that!
More news on the Charity Cup coming soon....
